Protel 99SE with service pack 6 is not a user friendly program. There are many things that one would have to know before being able to draw a pcb diagram.

Eventhough I already have some experience in using Protel PCB design, it takes me a whole week full concentration to get started again. more than 10 printouts has been wasted along the way to produce the correct pcb design. Not only that, getting used to the terms, hidden options, confusing pcb layer settings are very difficult. I wish that there were a much simpler pcb design software. I'm not making an industrial standard pcb design here.

Getting into the right choice of setting is another problem which took up my precious time. Just to know how to create the correct track width of the pcb would need one to know where to find such an option. by right clicking the  PCB areas will appear the list of options. from there, the design rule option will prevail but that is not it.

still i have to browse through the design rule & pick the correct rule constraint just to have the track required width.

The early stage design while gaining experience using protel99SE with service pack 6 was the circuit which involves the microcontroller only. Below is the circuit design for a basic connection of a PIC microcontroller.
